Before you start

  1. 1

Pick a school whose AD will wait

Every school shows its expectation level and demeanor before you take the job. A patient AD forgives a missed goal; an impatient one won’t. AD Expectations guide.

  2. 2

    Know what you inherit

Compare every program’s projected starters and the senior starters it loses after year one on the CFB 27 dynasty hub.

  3. 3

    Set your XP speed deliberately

Coach XP runs at Career 1.0x, Simulation 1.25x or Casual 1.5x. Slower means abilities arrive over more seasons.

Your budget

  1. 1

    Dynasty Points don’t roll over

Your annual budget refreshes at the End of Season Recap. Unspent points are lost. Dynasty Points guide.

  2. 2

    Support staff are preseason-only

Hire and fire them before you advance out of the preseason — after that they’re locked for the year.

  3. 3

    Facility upgrades take a year

An upgrade ordered at the Recap is under construction all offseason and opens the next preseason.

Recruiting

  1. 1

    The preseason is for scouting

You can’t offer scholarships until Week 0, so use the preseason to scout. Recruiting guide.

  2. 2

Every offer costs Dynasty Points now

NIL is part of the offer and is deducted immediately — refunded only if the recruit goes elsewhere or you drop them.

  3. 3

    Overpaying sets a floor

Offer above expected NIL and that becomes the new expectation; dropping back costs you influence every week.

  4. 4

    A verbal isn’t a signature

Verbal commits can flip until the hard commit. Keep recruiting your commits.

Your roster

  1. 1

    Retention happens at the Recap

Roster NIL is set once a year, and the Risk of Leaving column tells you who might go. You get one final chance to persuade leavers. Transfer portal & roster NIL.

  2. 2

Practice is a trade-off every week

Full practice gives the most XP and injury risk; No Practice keeps a player eligible with maximum recovery short of a week off. Player development.

  3. 3

    Four games keeps a redshirt

A freshman who appears in four games or fewer keeps redshirt eligibility — redshirt players who weren’t going to play, or they may transfer.

  4. 4

    Facilities drive development

Your Athletic Facilities grade directly boosts progression, and your facility tier caps that grade.

Your job

  1. 1

    Expressing interest is a commitment

In the Coaching Carousel, if a school picks you, you accept automatically — and every job you look at dents your Coach Stability.

Patches change these rules — the dynasty patch notes track every Dynasty change EA has confirmed. And when year one is done, keep a record of it.
