Online dynasty basics
- Up to 32 users in one Online Dynasty.
- Cross-play across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. It’s on by default; the commissioner can turn it off at any time in League Settings.
- The Members tab shows which system each user is on.
- Since the September 3 update, the EA SPORTS Network — weekly previews, recaps and stories — runs in online dynasties too.
League-wide settings to decide before week one
These settings apply to every member, so settle them before anyone plays a snap:
| Setting | What it does | Decide |
|---|---|---|
| Cross-play | Lets PS5, Xbox and PC users share a league. | Leave on unless your league is single-platform. |
| Coach Mode | When on, every member plays games in Coach Mode. | All-or-nothing for the league. |
| Coach Mode sub-settings | Auto QB, Auto Snap, Coach Suggestions, and a Pre-Play Cutoff that ends adjustments at 15 seconds on the play clock. | Only if Coach Mode is on. |
| Coach XP speed | Career 1.0x, Simulation 1.25x or Casual 1.5x (July 16 update). | Slower = coaches earn abilities over more seasons. |
| Pre-order Coach Point bonuses | Pre-order and MVP+ owners start every dynasty with 100 or 150 bonus Coach Points; commissioners can disable this in League Settings. | Disable for an even start. |
| Recruit flipping | Can be turned off so verbal commitments stay locked. | Off = less late-cycle poaching between users. |
A house rules template for CFB 27
The rules below are our suggested starting point, not game rules — keep the ones that fit your league and write them down before the season starts. Several target systems that are new in CFB 27.
| Area | Suggested rule | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Advancing | Fixed advance days (for example Monday and Thursday). The league advances on time; unplayed user games are simmed. | One absent member can’t stall 31 others. |
| User vs. user | Schedule a time within the advance window; if you can’t, agree on a sim or a forfeit rule in advance. | Removes the most common argument. |
| Recruiting NIL | Cap recruiting offers at 1.5x expected NIL when bidding against another user. | CFB 27 allows up to 2x; a cap keeps user-vs-user bidding wars from draining budgets. |
| Flips | Decide the flip setting up front. If flips are on, no flipping another user’s verbal after a set week. | Verbal commits can flip until the hard commit. |
| Transfer portal | Limit how many transfers each user can take from another user’s roster per offseason. | Keeps rebuilds from being stripped. |
| Coordinators | No bidding on another user’s current coordinators during the carousel. | Coordinators cost Dynasty Points and can be bid up to 2x. |
| Conferences | Conference changes only by league vote, between seasons. | Conference Prestige feeds Dynasty Points. |
| Gameplay | No quitting a game in progress; agree on any banned plays or formations up front. | Sportsmanship rules are the ones leagues fight about. |
| Coaching changes | Users may change jobs in the carousel but must announce it before signing day. | Everyone knows which programs are user-controlled. |
Commissioner checklist
- 1
Before inviting anyone
Set cross-play, Coach Mode and XP speed, decide on pre-order bonuses and flipping, and publish your house rules.
- 2
When filling the league
Assign teams deliberately — balance programs by conference so user-vs-user games are competitive.
- 3
Every advance
Post the next advance time, confirm user-vs-user games were played or settled, then advance on schedule.
- 4
Every offseason
Remind members that Roster NIL is set at the End of Season Recap and support staff can only change in the preseason.
Give the league a home outside the game
The game holds your current season. Leagues also need a schedule everyone can see, a place for results and standings, and a record of champions that outlives the save. CFB Clipboard’s online dynasty tools give a commissioner an advance schedule, invite links and team assignments, conference setup, league standings and news, Discord integration, and a public league page members can share. See how the dynasty tracker works.
